Manchester City came from behind to defeat Bournemouth 2-1, securing a record seventh consecutive FA Cup semi-final appearance and extending their unbeaten away run in the competition to 15 matches.
Despite a strong start from Bournemouth, Manchester City began to create chances. Erling Haaland headed wide, and then missed a penalty, with Kepa Arrizabalaga making a save. Haaland also chipped over the bar in a one-on-one situation.
Bournemouth capitalized on City’s missed opportunities. After City lost possession, Bournemouth’s David Brooks crossed for Justin Kluivert, and Evanilson ensured the ball crossed the line, giving Bournemouth the lead.
At halftime, Pep Guardiola introduced Nico O’Reilly, who made an immediate impact. O’Reilly set up Haaland to score the equalizer early in the second half.
Haaland was later forced off injured, but substitute Omar Marmoush quickly made his mark. Marmoush scored the winning goal after O’Reilly dispossessed Antoine Semenyo.
Marmoush nearly added another, but his header was cleared off the line by Marcos Senesi. Ilkay Gndo?an also hit the post for City.
Arrizabalaga denied James McAtee in stoppage time, but Bournemouth’s defense held, though they were unable to mount a successful attack.
The loss means Bournemouth’s wait for a first-ever FA Cup semi-final continues. Manchester City’s victory means they will face Nottingham Forest in the semi-final, seeking to avenge last year’s final defeat.
