Manchester City continued their relentless dominance over newly-promoted teams, securing a 2-0 victory over Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium to claim their 13th consecutive Premier League win against such sides. The result propelled Pep Guardiolas men into the top four, building on their recent FA Cup triumph over Bournemouth and ending a two-game winless run in the league.

City wasted no time asserting their authority, striking just two minutes into the match. Jrmy Doku intercepted the ball in midfield and released Savinho, whose pinpoint cross found Jack Grealish. The winger delicately guided the ball into the bottom corner for his first Premier League goal since December 2023, setting the tone for a commanding performance. Leicesters only chance of the game came soon after, when Bilal El Khannouss dragged a shot wide from the edge of the boxa miss that proved pivotal.

The hosts doubled their lead on the half-hour mark through Omar Marmoush, standing in for the injured Erling Haaland. The Egyptian striker pounced on a blunder by Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, smashing the ball off the crossbar and into an empty net for his fifth first-half league goal since arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt. Hermansen redeemed himself shortly after, denying Savinho from close range to keep the scoreline at 2-0 heading into the break.

City pushed for a third in the second half, with Marmoush nearly adding to his tally just before the hour mark. A slick passing move carved Leicester open, but the forward lifted his effort over the bar. Despite dominating possession, Citys cutting edge dulled after the interval, managing just one shot on target in the second period. Nevertheless, the early goals proved sufficient, and the return of Oscar Bobb from a long-term injury added a positive note to the evening.

For Leicester, the defeat marked their seventh consecutive top-flight loss without scoringa dismal run shared by only three other teams in English football history. Rooted in the relegation zone, the Foxes solitary attempt and lack of attacking threat underscored a campaign spiraling toward an inevitable return to the Championship. Meanwhile, Citys three points keep them firmly in the title conversation as Guardiolas side looks to maintain momentum in a packed spring schedule.
