Kyren Lacy, a prospect for the 2025 NFL draft, has passed away at the age of 24.
Kyren was found deceased in Houston on Saturday, April 12, according to WAFB-TV. While the official cause of death has not been confirmed, a source indicated it may have been a suspected suicide.
His passing comes several months after he was accused of being involved in a fatal crash that claimed the life of 78-year-old Herman Hall. Authorities allege Kyren fled the scene without providing assistance or contacting emergency services. He later turned himself in roughly a month after the incident.
He was released on $151,000 bail and faced charges including negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run resulting in death, and reckless operation of a vehicle. A grand jury was scheduled to begin reviewing the case on Monday, April 14.
Kyren, a former wide receiver for the LSU Tigers, led the team in touchdowns during the 2024 season and declared for the NFL Draft in December of that year.
Our hearts go out to Kyrens family, friends, and all those affected by this tragedy. May he rest in peace.
