The Nigeria Police Force’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, is slated to vacate his position on Friday, March 6, 2026, marking the end of his five-month tenure. According to sources at the police headquarters, a senior police officer has been selected to succeed Hundeyin, although the identity of the new appointee has not been officially disclosed.
Hundeyin, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), was appointed as the Force Public Relations Officer in September 2025, succeeding Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). Prior to his appointment, Hundeyin served as the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, where he gained national recognition for his proactive media engagement.
During his tenure, Hundeyin was credited with increasing public engagement through digital platforms, leveraging social media to provide regular updates on police activities and enhance transparency. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in English from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
An official announcement regarding Hundeyin’s exit and the appointment of his successor is expected from the office of the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, on Friday. As of Thursday evening, Hundeyin was still performing his official duties, having been informed of the decision and preparing to hand over the role.
