Nigeria’s non-oil exports have shown impressive growth, reaching a value of $3.225 billion in the first half of 2025. This marks a significant 19.59 percent increase compared to the $2.696 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.
According to the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) Executive Director, Nonye Ayeni, the increase was also reflected in shipment volumes, which grew to 4.04 million metric tonnes from 3.83 million metric tonnes in the first half of 2024. This growth was fueled by strong global demand for Nigerian products from countries like India, Brazil, Vietnam, and various African nations.
Ayeni highlighted that this positive trend was consistent throughout the year. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, non-oil exports were valued at $1.791 billion, a 24.75 percent rise over the $1.436 billion from the first quarter of 2024. Export volumes for Q1 2025 similarly saw a 24.3 percent jump, reaching 2.416 million metric tonnes.
The NEPC boss stressed that this steady growth underscores Nigeria’s expanding influence in international non-oil export markets. She concluded with optimism, stating that she expects this upward momentum to continue into the second half of the year through a focused strategy on expanding market access, improving product quality, and strengthening the country’s economic presence abroad.
