Ousmane Dembélé has been named the 2024–25 Ligue 1 Player of the Season, highlighting a standout campaign where he led Paris Saint-Germain to another domestic title and helped push them to the Champions League final. The award marks a full-circle moment for Dembélé, nearly a decade after he was first recognized as Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year in 2016.

After Kylian Mbappé’s departure to Real Madrid, many questioned who would step up for PSG—but Dembélé embraced the challenge. Under coach Luis Enrique’s system, he became the club’s main attacking threat, scoring 21 goals in the league and finishing with 33 in all competitions. His flair, pace, and vision made him a nightmare for defenders and a key figure in PSG’s dominant form both at home and in Europe.

His performances have not only earned him domestic accolades but also elevated him into the Ballon d’Or conversation. With PSG chasing their first Champions League title and Dembélé delivering consistently on the biggest stages, his stock has never been higher.

The UNFP awards night also saw PSG sweep major honors. Luis Enrique was named Coach of the Year, and promising midfielder Désiré Doué took home Best Young Player. But the night belonged to Dembélé, whose resurgence and leadership defined PSG’s season and set the tone for what could be a historic year for both him and the club.
