Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, has alleged that politicians and government officials are the primary cause of insecurity in Nigeria. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Baba-Ahmed claimed that insecurity has been part of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) since before the 2015 elections.
“My argument is that insecurity is part of the APC. That is my candid and formed opinion,” Baba-Ahmed stated during the interview. “I have given you three solid statements about the fact that politicians and government functionaries are the problems of insecurity in Nigeria. These facts are undisputed.”
In a related development, Naija News reports that Baba-Ahmed recently accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of conducting a “fraudulent and bad election” in 2023. He asserted that posterity would judge the electoral body for the way it declared the results of the general elections. “INEC conducted a fraudulent and bad election, which is not, up to now, consistent with the Nigerian Constitution, the declaration itself, and I stated it that they have finished us,” he added.
