Cletus Obun, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu, advising him to rethink his approach to political appointments. Obun expressed concern that many loyal party members who worked tirelessly to secure Tinubus presidential victory have not been properly rewarded for their efforts.

Speaking on the Friday edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today, Obun criticized the current reward system within the APC, suggesting that the president is being misguided by certain individuals around him. He warned that failing to acknowledge the contributions of loyal party members could lead to significant political fallout.

It is a grave mistake not to reward your own allies. This approach will certainly backfire, Obun said. In a developing democracy like ours, its a direct insult to loyalty.

Obun further lamented that the APC has continued the poor reward system from the Buhari administration, which he described as one of the worst in the party’s history. He compared the situation to a man who “works like an elephant but eats like an ant,” emphasizing that this imbalance is unfair and detrimental.

The APC chieftain urged President Tinubu to take time to reassess his actions, warning that some advisers may be steering him toward a dangerous political path. Some are trying to mislead him into thinking that those who worked for him in 2023 wont be valuable come 2027. That is a grave political mistake, Obun cautioned. Not rewarding those who supported you can have far-reaching consequences, even affecting him through the power of collective prayer. Karma is real.

In his message, Obun called for a shift in the partys reward system, stressing that acknowledging the efforts of loyal party members is crucial for the future stability and success of both the APC and President Tinubus administration.
