Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) moved to the brink of securing their 10th Ligue 1 title in the last 12 seasons with a resounding 6-1 victory over Saint-Étienne. The win also saw PSG equal AC Milan’s record of 38 consecutive unbeaten away matches in Europe’s top-five leagues.

Despite facing a hostile atmosphere due to a ban on away fans, PSG overcame an early setback to dominate the match.

Saint-Étienne started strongly, and Zuriko Davitashvili’s early dominance led to Lucas Stassin’s headed goal in the 9th minute.

PSG gradually asserted themselves, and after Leo Petrot’s missed clearance, Florian Tardieu fouled Goncalo Ramos in the box. Ramos converted the penalty, leveling the score.

Matvey Safonov’s crucial save denied Stassin just before halftime, setting the stage for PSG’s second-half dominance.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave PSG the lead after a Mickael Nade error. Soon after, Irvin Cardona’s giveaway allowed Desire Doue to score, extending PSG’s lead.

Joao Neves added a fourth goal, and Doue scored his second, making it 5-1. PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe made his first league appearance since February 2023.

Ibrahim Mbaye, at 17, scored his first senior goal, assisted by Nuno Mendes and Bradley Barcola, to complete the 6-1 rout.

With Marseille losing earlier in the day, a draw between Nice and Monaco would secure the Ligue 1 title for PSG.

For Saint-Étienne, the defeat extends their winless run to 10 matches, making a relegation play-off their most likely outcome.
