Mohamed Salah has reiterated his intention to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, citing a lack of progress on a contract extension as the key factor. Despite his uncertain future, Salah remains focused on achieving a memorable send-off by lifting the Premier League trophy once more.
Currently leading the Premier League scoring charts with 17 goals this season, the 32-year-old forward is entering the final six months of his contract. This makes him eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
Reflecting on his ambitions, Salah shared that he had written down his goals for the season while on holiday last year. Chief among them was winning the Premier League title with Liverpool. Speaking to Sky Sports, he explained, “The first thing on my list was to win the Premier League with Liverpool.”
He also revealed a strong desire to properly celebrate a league title after the team’s 2020 triumph was overshadowed by the pandemic. “We waited 30 years for that title, but the pandemic meant we couldnt celebrate it the way we wanted. Thats always stayed with me, so Id love to win it again and give the fans and the city the celebration they deserve.”
When asked about his future, Salah confirmed his belief that this season will be his last at Anfield. “So far, yes. Its the last six months of my deal, and theres been no progress in discussions. We are far from an agreement, so well have to wait and see.”
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2016, Salah has scored an impressive 231 goals and has played a pivotal role in the clubs successes, including their Champions League victory in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020.
As he contemplates his future, Salah remains determined to end his time at Liverpool on a high note. “If this is my last six months, I want to focus on having an unbelievable season, rather than worrying about the contract situation. Thats what matters most to me.”
