Traditional Council Debunks Claims of Nullified Chieftaincy Titles
In a separate development, the Idoma Area Traditional Council (IATC) has refuted recent reports claiming it nullified the chieftaincy titles conferred on President Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume. The titles were recently bestowed upon them by the Adiharu of Igede, HRH Oga Ero, during the Igede Agba festival in Benue State.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Adegbe Uloko, the council dismissed the claims as “mischievous and misleading.” The IATC clarified that a prior embargo on chieftaincy conferment was in place, but also pointed out that neither President Tinubu nor Senator Akume were on the original list of honorees proposed for the event. This clarification aims to address the controversy that arose among stakeholders following the conferment of the titles despite the council’s earlier order.
