Vice-President Kashim Shettima was among the dignitaries who attended the wedding fatiha of Ms. Halima Junaid, the granddaughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. The ceremony, held on Saturday at the Yahaya Road Juma’at Mosque in Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna, also celebrated the union of Halima with Mr. Walid Muazu, the son of Iyan Katagum.
Shettima represented the bride, while Alhaji Shehu Mauzu stood in for the groom. The event drew a host of high-profile attendees, including several ministers, senators, and other political figures. Among those present were the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, and the former Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
Following the wedding rites, the Vice-President visited the residence of the late President Buhari to extend his condolences to the family and to greet his widow, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari. Shettima stated that President Bola Tinubu had directed him to convey his warm regards and continued support to the family. He described Buhari as a leader who would “forever remain dear” to both himself and Tinubu.
Shettima also used the opportunity to pay a condolence visit to the APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Garba Datti Muhammad, who recently lost his son. He expressed his and President Tinubu’s deepest sympathies to the family.
