Nigerian international and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, might be making an unexpected move into Turkish cinema following a playful exchange with renowned actor and director, Şahan Gökbakar.
During a recent meeting, Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray this summer, asked Gökbakar if he would consider him for a movie role. Gökbakar, famous for his popular “Recep İvedik” film series, responded positively.
The actor later fanned the flames of speculation with a social media post, asking his followers, “Osi Baba wanted a role in movies. Shall we make a surprise at Recep 8?” The post quickly gained attention, with Turkish pop singer Simge Sağın commenting on Osimhen’s character and wishing him well.
While a movie role would be a new venture for the 26-year-old, he is no stranger to the camera, having previously appeared in a commercial.
On the pitch, Osimhen is already making an impact for Galatasaray. He came on as a second-half substitute in the team’s 3-0 victory over Fatih Karagümrük, which has kept the defending champions at the top of the Turkish Super Lig with a perfect start to the season. As last season’s top scorer, he is expected to be a key player in the club’s title defense, all while the buzz continues around a potential crossover into the world of Turkish entertainment.
