West Ham United delivered a stellar performance to secure a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. This win marked the end of a 16-match winless run for West Ham in away Premier League head-to-heads against the Red Devils.

West Ham’s manager, Ruben Amorim, made six changes to his starting lineup following their UEFA Europa League semi-final success. Mason Mount was among those introduced, along with Amad Diallo, who made his first start since early February.

Diallo showed early promise, combining effectively with Bruno Fernandes. However, Fernandes’s initial shot curled over the bar, and his subsequent, more dangerous effort was saved by West Ham’s goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola.

West Ham gradually found their rhythm, and by the quarter-hour mark, United’s defense appeared vulnerable. James Ward-Prowse delivered a curling free-kick into the box, which Max Kilman headed over. This proved to be a brief reprieve for the home side.

In the 26th minute, former Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka found Mohammed Kudus unmarked on the left. Kudus drove the ball low across the box, and Tomas Soucek was on hand to poke it home, giving West Ham a 1-0 lead.

The goal seemed to deflate the United players, and they went into the half-time break trailing.

West Ham continued to control the game after the restart. Just after halftime, Kudus cut the ball back to Ward-Prowse, whose shot was directed straight at Altay Bay?nd?r, the United goalkeeper.

A setback for West Ham came when Leny Yoro was forced off with a foot injury less than ten minutes into the second half. Manchester United also made changes, with Luke Shaw being replaced by Harry Maguire, and Victor Lindelof coming on.

However, these defensive changes did little to address Manchester United’s defensive vulnerabilities. In the 57th minute, West Ham extended their lead. Manuel Ugarte was dispossessed in his own half, allowing Kudus to drive into the box. Kudus’s shot was deflected into the path of Wan-Bissaka, who squared the ball to the far post for Jarrod Bowen to slot home, making it 2-0.

Despite efforts from Manchester United, they were unable to mount a comeback, and West Ham secured a memorable victory at Old Trafford.
