The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the temporary relocation of its orientation camp in Kwara State from Yikpata, in Edu Local Government Area, to the Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin. The move, which has been approved by the state government, is a proactive measure to address recent security concerns in the area.

The NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, confirmed the decision on Thursday, stating that the action was necessary to guarantee the safety and welfare of prospective corps members. The relocation follows recent reports of security challenges, including armed banditry, in communities within the Kwara North Senatorial District.

“We are fully prepared to host the orientation course, and the welfare of participants will be safeguarded,” Mr. Onifade said. He added that soldiers and other security forces will be deployed to the new temporary venue to ensure a secure environment throughout the three-week orientation exercise.

The orientation course for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members is scheduled to commence on September 24 and will run until October 14, 2025. A delegation from the NYSC headquarters is expected to conduct an inspection of the temporary venue at the Kwara State Polytechnic to ensure all arrangements are in place.

NYSC Kwara appreciates the support of the state government and the commitment of various security agencies in addressing the security challenges and ensuring a safe and successful orientation program for all participants
