Peter Obi Speaking e1773906164740

Former presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has alleged that the Federal Government is working to prevent him from participating in the 2027 presidential election. Obi made the allegation while calling for a transparent and credible electoral process in the country.

In a video address to a group of Nigerians, Obi reflected on his past experiences, including years of setbacks, political isolation, and prolonged legal disputes. He recounted being impeached, removed from office, and left without support at certain points in his career.

Obi stated that his past experiences have strengthened him and that the current political climate does not present anything new to him. He alleged that the Federal Government is trying to frustrate his ambition ahead of the 2027 polls, saying, “The Federal Government of Nigeria does not want me to contest in the 2027 presidential election. We are not asking for much. They already have the governors and ministers; we are only asking for a free and fair election.”

Obi further suggested that those in power enjoy access to influential networks, giving them an advantage in the political space. He stressed the need for a level playing field, insisting that the focus should be on ensuring credible elections rather than restricting participation.
