Butler, who played six seasons with Miami and was crucial to their 2020 NBA Finals run, received a warm video tribute before the game. Despite scattered boos, the reception was largely positive, with Butler maintaining his characteristic grace.
“This was a huge part of my career so I continue to say that I’m very grateful,” Butler said. “I ain’t spiteful towards nobody.”
Miami dominated from the start, securing a wire-to-wire victory that saw Butler limited to just 11 points. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra emphasized that the team’s approach remained focused and professional.
“The energy in the building was great,” Spoelstra said. “We didn’t do any extra motivational speech leading into this – it was more about us staying the course with our process.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr acknowledged Miami’s superior preparation, noting, “The main part of Jimmy’s return is that the Heat were ready. And Spo had them ready. It was about how hard they played and how well they competed.”

The victory improves Miami’s record to 31-41, keeping them in 10th place in the Eastern Conference and on track for the play-in tournament. The Warriors dropped to 41-31 in the Western Conference.

The Thunder have already secured the top spot in the Western Conference and are targeting the league’s best overall record.
The Cleveland Cavaliers also continued their dominant season, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 122-111 to improve to an impressive 58-14 record.
In the race for Western Conference positioning, the Houston Rockets maintained their second-place standing with a hard-fought 121-114 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, led by Jalen Green’s 32 points.
