RC Strasbourg continued their impressive form in Ligue 1, extending their unbeaten streak to seven matches with a resounding 4-2 victory over European contenders Olympique Lyonnais on Friday evening. The emphatic win propels Liam Rosenior’s side into fifth place in the league table.

Despite a lively start from Lyon, who created several early chances, it was Strasbourg who drew first blood after the break. Andrey Santos met Dilane Bakwa’s corner with a perfectly timed header in the 55th minute, giving the home side the lead.

Strasbourg quickly doubled their advantage just five minutes later, with Bakwa scoring a brilliant individual goal from the edge of the box. However, Lyon responded swiftly, with Corentin Tolisso heading home a loose ball in the 63rd minute after Strasbourg goalkeeper ?or?e Petrovi? fumbled an initial save.

Le Racing re-established their two-goal cushion in the 73rd minute when Emanuel Emegha expertly finished an angled shot from Valentín Barco’s pass, marking his 50th Ligue 1 appearance in style. Substitute Sam Amo-Ameyaw added a fourth for Strasbourg in the 89th minute, scoring his first goal for the club.

Lyon managed a late consolation goal in stoppage time through a Georges Mikautadze penalty, but it was too little too late.

This dominant performance marks Strasbourg’s sixth win in their last seven Ligue 1 matches and extends their unbeaten home run to twelve games (W8, D4). The victory sees them leapfrog Lyon in the standings, bolstering their hopes of securing European football for next season. For Lyon, the defeat ends their five-match winning streak in all competitions.
