Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski is aiming for his second LaLiga and Pichichi Trophy double in three years after scoring twice in a 4-1 victory over Girona. The win restores Barcelona’s three-point lead at the top of the table.

Following Real Madrid’s win over Leganes, Barcelona quickly established their dominance at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Fermin Lopez and Robert Lewandowski threatened early, with Lopez’s shot being blocked and Lewandowski’s effort saved by Paulo Gazzaniga. Girona’s Yáser Asprilla appeared to foul Lopez in the box, but the original free-kick decision was upheld after a VAR review.

Barcelona continued to control the game, and Ronald Araujo’s header was saved by Gazzaniga.

Girona nearly held on until halftime, but Ladislav Krejci, assisted by Lamine Yamal, scored in the final minute of the first half.

Girona’s Arnaut Danjuma equalized early in the second half, assisted by Daley Blind.

Barcelona quickly regained control. A series of passes led to Gavi assisting Lopez, who headed across goal for Lewandowski to score his 24th LaLiga goal.

Barcelona extended their lead when Lewandowski scored his second, assisted by Frenkie De Jong. Ferran Torres then scored to complete the 4-1 victory.

The win puts Barcelona in a strong position for their 28th LaLiga title. Girona, who were outclassed, have now won only once in their last 11 away matches.
