SSC Napoli secured a 2-1 victory over AC Milan, marking only their second win in their last eight Serie A matches. First-half goals from Matteo Politano and Romelu Lukaku proved decisive in the contest.

Napoli entered the game with added importance, knowing that a win would be crucial after Inter Milan extended their league lead earlier in the day.

Napoli started strong, taking the lead in the second minute. Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s long pass was well-controlled by Politano, who scored past Mike Maignan.

Napoli continued to press, and doubled their advantage in the 19th minute. Billy Gilmour found Lukaku, who finished coolly into the corner.

AC Milan struggled to respond to Napoli’s dominant start, and despite having possession, they found it difficult to create clear chances.

In the second half, Napoli maintained control, with Santiago Gimenez shooting over the bar.

Milan had a chance to reduce the deficit in the 65th minute, but Alex Meret saved Gimenez’s penalty.

Milan substitute Luka Jovic scored in the 84th minute, assisted by Theo Hernandez, setting up a tense finish.

Despite Milan’s late push, Napoli held on to win, securing their first home victory against AC Milan in seven attempts.
