Award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Tiwa Savage, has recently shared her thoughts on Nigerian men, stating that while they possess undeniable “swag,” they often fall short in the romance department.
Speaking on GRAM Dailys Thoughts in a Culli, the Koroba hitmaker expressed that Nigerian men excel in style and displaying wealth but lack the tender gestures she seeks in a partner.
Nigerian men do have swag, but they are not really romantic when it comes down to it, Tiwa Savage stated. They know how to swag and splash cash but Im not looking for that.
In a separate development, another prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed the widely reported disagreement between himself and Tiwa Savage.
Recall that earlier this year, in January 2024, news broke that Tiwa Savage had filed a police complaint against Davido, alleging threats following her social media post featuring the mother of Davidos first child.
However, during a recent appearance on The BreakfastShow on Tuesday, Davido downplayed any ongoing feud, referring to Tiwa Savage as his “sister.”
Thats my sister, man. Shes cool, Davido explained. I remember when all of us, Me and Tiwa used to stay in the same house. Thats like my big sis, like, you know what Im saying? She saw me as a youngin, you know what Im saying?
Davidos comments suggest a reconciliation or at least a cooling of tensions between the two artists, who have both significantly contributed to the global rise of Afrobeats. While Tiwa Savage offers a candid perspective on her experiences with Nigerian men, Davidos remarks indicate a desire to move past any previous conflict with his fellow music star.
