After a four-season tenure with Inter Milan, Simone Inzaghi has officially been unveiled as the new manager of Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al Hilal. The move sees Inzaghi reportedly become the highest-paid manager in the world, with a staggering salary of approximately 25 million euros per season.

Al Hilal confirmed that the Italian tactician has signed a two-year contract, effective immediately. This swift transition will see Inzaghi take charge for the upcoming Club World Cup, with his first competitive match at the helm slated for June 18 against Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Inzaghi departs Inter Milan with an impressive trophy cabinet, including one Serie A title, two Coppa Italias, and three Italian Super Cups. He also guided the Nerazzurri to two Champions League finals, a significant achievement, though both ended in disappointment.

The conclusion of his Inter spell was particularly bittersweet. With only weeks remaining in the recent campaign, Inter were strong contenders for the Scudetto and widely fancied for the Champions League title, with only Paris Saint-Germain standing between them and European glory. However, a domestic slip-up against Lazio allowed Napoli to clinch the league title, and Inter were subsequently overwhelmed by PSG with a 5-0 defeat in the Champions League final in Munich.

Despite the late-season setbacks, Inzaghi’s overall record at Inter highlights his pedigree as a top-tier manager. His move to Al Hilal signals the Saudi club’s significant ambition to assert themselves on the global football stage, armed with a manager of Inzaghi’s caliber and a substantial financial commitment. All eyes will now be on the Club World Cup to see Inzaghi’s immediate impact with his new squad.
