FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has issued a strong warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), advising the party against allowing former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, to return and seek its 2027 presidential ticket. Speaking to journalists during a media chat on Monday, Wike declared that if the PDP were to nominate Obi as its candidate for the upcoming elections, the party would be destroyed. He argued that it would be a matter of principle for Obi not to return to a party he once described as rotten, simply to fulfill his political ambitions.
The former Rivers State Governor also reiterated that he has no regrets for his actions against the PDP during the 2023 elections. He maintained that what he had previously warned the party about eventually came to pass. According to Wike, the PDP’s recent decision to zone the party’s 2027 presidential ticket to the South is an admission of its mistake in the 2023 polls, where both the National Chairman and the presidential candidate were from the North.
