Nigerian football star Asisat Oshoala is on the brink of a new chapter in her decorated career, with a move to Saudi Women’s League side Al Hilal now imminent. The forward, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most prominent players, has reportedly arrived in Saudi Arabia to finalize the transfer, which comes just one and a half years after she joined Bay FC in the United States.

According to a report by The Athletic, Oshoala touched down in the Kingdom on Monday to undergo medical examinations. The transfer, for which an undisclosed fee has been agreed upon, explains her notable absence from Bay FC’s recent 2-1 defeat to Angel City. She was not included in the matchday squad as a result of the ongoing negotiations.

The 30-year-old forward initially joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in February 2024, making the move from European powerhouse Barcelona Women. During her time with Bay FC, she made 38 appearances and scored eight goals, though her on-field involvement had seemingly dipped since the start of last season.

This move to Al Hilal represents a significant shift for the five-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, who has consistently sought out new challenges throughout her career. Oshoala’s journey has already spanned multiple continents and top-tier clubs in Europe and the USA. This new opportunity will see her bring her prolific goal-scoring ability and leadership to a rapidly developing league in the Middle East.

On the international stage, Oshoala continues to be a pivotal figure for the Nigerian Super Falcons. Just in July, she played a crucial role in helping her national team secure a record-extending 10th WAFCON title in Morocco, further cementing her legacy as a continental and global football icon. Her transfer to Al Hilal is expected to be a major boost for the Saudi league as it continues to attract world-class talent to raise its profile
