The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a strong warning to the public against offering money or any form of inducement to its officers while on duty. In a statement released on its official social media handle, the Command stressed that such acts are illegal and compromise the integrity of policing.

“It is unlawful to give our officers money or any form of inducement while they are performing their duty,” the statement read. “Let them discharge their responsibilities diligently, without interference.”

The Command reaffirmed its dedication to professional service, emphasizing that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to integrity, transparency, and accountability. It urged residents to cooperate with officers in making the capital city safer and to report any unprofessional conduct. Complaints can be directed to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at 08107314192 or the Command’s emergency line at 08032003913.

In a separate development, the FCT Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the suspected suicide of a 30-year-old man, identified as Ik Ojo, whose body was found hanging in his residence in the Kagini–Dei-Dei area of Abuja.

According to FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Command received a distress call on August 5, 2025. Officers from the Dei-Dei Division responded promptly, evacuating the victim to Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. His body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy. The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, has ordered a discreet probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, with further details to be released as the investigation progresses.
