Jarrod Bowen dedicated his winning goal to teammate Michail Antonio as West Ham secured a 2-1 victory over Wolves. The England winger raised Antonios number nine shirt in tribute to the striker, who is recovering in hospital following a serious car accident.

The incident overshadowed the match, with Antonio undergoing surgery for a broken leg. West Ham confirmed he was in a stable condition, conscious, and communicating. The 34-year-old now faces a lengthy recovery, and the team rallied around their injured colleague by wearing Antonio 9 shirts during warm-ups and the walkout. These shirts, signed by the players, will be auctioned to support the NHS and Air Ambulances UK.

Support for Antonio continued with a minutes applause in the ninth minute, recognizing the clubs record Premier League goalscorer. However, the first half was lackluster, with Wolves’ Joao Gomes wasting a clear chance and West Hams Mohammed Kudus forcing a save from Sam Johnstone.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Tomas Soucek, unmarked at the far post, looped a header into the net from Bowens corner. Soucek showed his support for Antonio by holding up nine fingers to the camera. Moments later, Kudus thought he had doubled the lead, but his goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR review.

Wolves managed to equalize when Rayan Ait-Nouris cross was steered home by Matt Doherty. However, West Ham restored their lead in the 72nd minute. Bowen delivered a moment of brilliance, cutting inside Goncalo Guedes and firing past Johnstone before celebrating with Antonios shirt held high.

The game ended in chaos as Wolves captain Mario Lemina lost his temper, pushing players and staff from both teams and needing to be escorted off the pitch. The result offered some reprieve for West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui, while increasing the pressure on Wolves boss Gary ONeil, who suffered a third consecutive defeat.
