Renowned journalist and former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dele Momodu, has called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to mend fences with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central. The appeal was made during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, amid escalating tensions between the two senators that have captured national attention.

Momodu, a prominent media figure and publisher, stressed the need for a reconciliatory approach to preserve harmony within the Senate. He cautioned that unresolved differences could weaken Akpabios political standing and disrupt the legislative process. Leadership demands wisdom and the ability to build bridges rather than burn them, Momodu said. The Senate should be a place of dialogue and mutual respect. If the Senate President does not handle this matter carefully, it may create unnecessary distractions for the National Assembly.

The rift between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan has sparked widespread concern, with many Nigerians urging a swift resolution to prevent further division in the upper chamber. The dispute, which has been fueled by public exchanges and allegations, has raised questions about its potential impact on governance and legislative productivity.

During the interview, Momodu underscored the broader implications of the conflict, arguing that a peaceful resolution would enhance the Senates credibility and foster unity among lawmakers. He warned that failure to address the issue diplomatically could lead to political consequences for Akpabio, urging him to prioritize cooperation over confrontation.

Political analysts have weighed in on Momodus remarks, with some echoing his call for stability in the Senate as vital for national progress. Others emphasized the urgency of resolving internal conflicts to maintain focus on the legislative agenda. The ongoing saga continues to dominate discussions, with observers watching closely to see how the Senate leadership will respond to this plea for reconciliation.
