Borussia Dortmund extended their remarkable unbeaten Bundesliga run to 12 games after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg at Signal Iduna Park. The win was especially significant as it handed the visitors their first defeat of the season.

The match began with a lively tempo as both teams, keen to maintain their undefeated starts, created early opportunities. Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amoura had a golden chance to put his side ahead but fired his shot well over the crossbar from a promising position. The missed opportunity proved costly.

Dortmund capitalized almost immediately when Karim Adeyemi broke the deadlock with a powerful strike from distance. The 23-year-old’s thunderous goal, assisted by Julian Ryerson, was his fourth direct goal contribution in his last three matches, highlighting his exceptional form. Dortmund continued to press, with Ryerson setting up Maximilian Beier, whose header narrowly missed the target. Beier had another opportunity before halftime, but his shot was well saved by Wolfsburg goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

Despite Dortmund’s growing dominance, Wolfsburg came agonizingly close to an equalizer in the second half. From a free-kick, Amoura’s header came off the underside of the crossbar, but the ball was determined not to have crossed the line. Seeking to change their fortunes, the visitors introduced Christian Eriksen for his debut, but Dortmund’s defense held firm. In the closing stages, Grabara produced another brilliant save, tipping a close-range header from Felix Nmecha over the bar.

Ultimately, one goal was all that was needed for Niko Kovac’s side to secure their sixth consecutive home win and keep pace with Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga. For Wolfsburg, the loss ends a strong unbeaten run under new coach Paul Simonis, but the fact that it was their first defeat of the season still offers some positives to build on. They will, however, be disappointed with their performance, having managed only a single shot on target throughout the match.
