Ex Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye is back in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with Enyimba, almost two decades after he left the country to play in Europe and other parts of the world.

Two-time African champions Enyimba confirmed Ideye’s signing on Monday, two days after they appointed Stanley Eguma as head coach to replace the sacked Yemi Olanrewaju.

“We are delighted to officially announce the addition of former Super Eagles Striker, Brown Ideye to our fold,” Enyimba said in a statement on their X account on Monday.

“We are expectant of the experience and professionalism he will add to our game/quest in our remaining games, this season especially under the new gaffer.”

Ideye, 36, played for Ocean Boys in the Nigerian top flight in 2006/2007 before leaving for Switzerland to join Neuchatel Xamax, where he stayed for two years.

He has since played for Sochaux in France, Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine, West Brom in England, Olympiacos in Greece, Tianjin Teda in China and Malaga in Spain.

Ideye has also had a successful international career, playing a key role as the Super Eagles won the Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa in 2013.

At club level, he won the Ukrainian Cup with Dynamo Kyiv in 2014 and the Greek Super League title with Olympiacos in 2016.
