Media personality and Nollywood actress Toke Makinwa has ignited a social media firestorm after expressing her openness to polygamy on her podcast, “Toke Moments.” The 40-year-old revealed she would consider being a second, third, fourth, or even fifth wife, a statement that has sparked widespread discussion about modern relationships and gender roles.

During the podcast episode, Makinwa explained that while she values her independence and career success, she often feels overwhelmed by the constant pressure of decision-making. “In all honesty, at this point in my life, if I have the opportunity to be the second, third, fourth, or fifth wife, I will take it,” she stated. “I am the boss everywhere and that could be tiring. You feel like you need someone to lean on. Someone that could decide what is for dinner. Must it be me?”

Makinwa’s candid admission has resonated with many who feel similarly burdened by the pressures of modern life, particularly women in positions of leadership. Others have strongly criticized her stance, questioning her views on female empowerment and traditional family structures.

This isn’t the first time Makinwa’s personal life has made headlines. Her previous marriage to fitness expert Maje Ayida ended in 2017 after a highly publicized separation involving allegations of infidelity. The couple had married in 2014.

The actress’s recent comments have reignited conversations about the evolving nature of relationships and the search for balance between independence and companionship. Social media platforms have been flooded with diverse opinions, highlighting the complex and often conflicting views on marriage and partnership in contemporary society. The discourse continues to evolve, with many awaiting further clarification or expansion on the subject from Makinwa herself.
