Despite finishing 22 points behind Coventry in the Championship last season, Hull City have made the stronger adaptation to top-flight life. Coventry entered the match looking for their first Premier League points, with new signing Taiwo Awoniyi leading the frontline following his midweek cup goal against Plymouth Argyle.
Awoniyi proved lively early on, forcing Nobel Mendy into a key block after a sharp run into the penalty box. The Nigerian forward continued to test Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis throughout the opening half, heading just wide before forcing a pair of saves from the Greek shot-stopper to keep the match level at the interval.
