Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed cautious optimism about his teams mini-revival as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Tuesday. Despite sitting 13th in the table, a daunting 12 points adrift of the top four with only nine games remaining, Amorim believes the mood at Old Trafford is shifting.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Portuguese boss, who took the reins in November, highlighted the teams unbeaten run of seven matches across all competitions. However, he acknowledged the fragility of their newfound confidence, especially after a penalty shootout exit to Fulham in the FA Cup during that stretch. “I’m really confident. I feel that the players are more confident, the energy is different,” Amorim said. “But I also know that this could change with the results. So we are focused on maintaining the energy.”

Uniteds resurgence comes at a critical juncture, with a packed April schedule looming. The Red Devils face seven games next month, including a pivotal Europa League quarter-final against Lyon and challenging Premier League fixtures against Manchester City and Newcastle. With the international break now behind them, Amorim is determined to keep the momentum going. “We worked on some things that we have a lot to improve,” he admitted. “Even winning the games, we can acknowledge that we have a lot to improve. But we are in a different moment, more confident and ready for this final two months of the season.”

The squads injury crisis is also beginning to ease, offering a timely boost. Defenders Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro are back in contention, while young prospect Ayden Heavens injury is less severe than initially feared. “Its really important to have all the players available for them to fight, for us to rotate during matches,” Amorim noted. “Different characteristics give us different opportunities to win football matches.”

Tuesdays trip to Nottingham Forest, who are enjoying a strong campaign, will test Uniteds mettle. Amorim remains pragmatic about the challenges ahead, with three tough Premier League fixtures on the horizon. “I know that we will have at least three games in the Premier League now that are really tough,” he said. “But I think the team is prepared to face those games.”

As Manchester United look to salvage their season and push for European qualification, Amorims blend of confidence and realism could prove key in navigating the stormy waters of this late-stage campaign.
