The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, a 43-year-old Lekki-based businessman and owner of Damillionz Takeout, for his alleged role in importing 60 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, from the United States to Nigeria. The arrest took place on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Bay Lounge on Admiralty Way, Lekki, where Ebenezer reportedly conducted his illicit drug operations. He was apprehended while awaiting the delivery of his latest narcotics shipment.
According to Femi Babafemi, NDLEAs Director of Media & Advocacy, the arrest followed the interception of seven large cartons containing the illicit cargo, seized on March 12 at a logistics company in Lagos by operatives from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation. A subsequent search of Ebenezers Lekki residence uncovered an additional 94 grams of Loud, a cannabis crusher, and other drug paraphernalia, bringing the total weight of the seized drugs to 32.24 kilograms. In a statement, Ebenezer admitted to engaging in the drug trade since 2017.
The operation is part of a broader nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking by the NDLEA. In a separate incident, officers thwarted an attempt by Omoruyi Terry, an Italy-based businessman and frequent traveler, to export 1,400 pills of tramadol (225mg), weighing 800 grams, to Italy. Terry was intercepted at Terminal 2 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, while en route via a Qatar Airways flight.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, an intelligence-led raid on Friday, March 28, in Godai village, Daura Local Government Area, resulted in the arrest of four suspects: Baraka Abubakar, 40; Haruna Alitine, 23; Muhammad Babangida, 20; and Hamisu Lawal. The operation yielded 684 blocks of compressed skunk weighing 423 kilograms and 86,000 diazepam pills. Three male suspects were caught repackaging the diazepam, while Abubakar, the lone female suspect, was found with large quantities of skunk in her home.
In Edo State, NDLEA operatives destroyed 13,198 kilograms of cannabis sativa across multiple forests between March 24 and March 28. The affected areas included Uhen Forest in Ovia North East LGA, Sobe in Owan West LGA, and Amahor Forest in Igueben LGA, where four cannabis plantations were dismantled. An additional 158 kilograms of the substance were seized for potential prosecution.
Further operations saw significant seizures across Nigeria. In Niger State, on March 28, a patrol along the Mokwa-Jebba road led to the interception of a black Toyota Corolla (registration SLM 137 SV), where 179 blocks of compressed skunk weighing 77.6 kilograms were found hidden in a false bottom. The two occupants, Paul Christopher, 46, and Lucky Star Anumie, were arrested. The following day, 50 kilograms of skunk were recovered from the home of a fugitive suspect, Isa Iliya, in Wawa village, Borgu council area.
In Enugu State, 108.5 kilograms of skunk were seized from lockup shops at Aria New Market on March 25, while in Kwara State, 25 kilograms of the same substance were confiscated from Abdulrazak Saka in the Kilako area of Ilorin on March 24. In Oyo State, Suli Saheed, 50, was arrested with 2.5 kilograms of Ghanaian Loud and 515 grams of Colorado at Olomi Academy in Ibadan.
The NDLEAs relentless efforts underscore its commitment to curbing drug trafficking and abuse across the country, with operations spanning multiple states and targeting both local and international networks. Further updates on these cases are expected as investigations continue.
