Nicolas Jackson, the Senegalese international who recently completed a season-long loan move to Bayern Munich, has broken his silence on his departure from Chelsea. In an interview with the Italian newspaper TuttoSport, Jackson stated that he has “no regrets” about leaving Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old forward joined the Bundesliga champions on transfer deadline day after falling out of favor under new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca. The deal was nearly derailed after an injury to teammate Liam Delap prompted Chelsea to reconsider their options, but Bayern pushed forward and finalized a new agreement.

Jackson described the move as an emotional one, but not for the reasons many might assume. “I was simply very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world, to discover another league and other great players,” he said. While admitting he was “a little sad to leave Chelsea, my teammates, and the fans,” he emphasized that there was no bitterness behind his decision.

“Football is full of cycles,” Jackson added. “I respect Maresca, I learned a lot from him, he has his own ideas and style… I have no regrets, just gratitude for my time at Chelsea.”

Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023, will be looking to make an impact at Bayern Munich, where he will be in competition with Harry Kane for a place in the starting lineup. The loan deal includes an obligation for Bayern to purchase the player permanently if he meets certain performance-based conditions.
