A chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has publicly claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is unable to conduct a free and fair election under the administration of President Bola Tinubu. Galadima, a prominent political figure, made the strong allegations during an appearance on Channels TV’s “Politics Today.”

Galadima argued that the current administration, just two years into its tenure, has shifted its focus from governance to politicking. He believes this early political activity undermines the integrity of the electoral process.

According to the NNPP chieftain, INEC lacks the “muscle and the guts” to caution politicians because those in government have already started campaigning ahead of time. He contrasted this with a time when he says INEC would have intervened to ensure the political atmosphere was not overheated prematurely.

“What is happening, the politicking that is going on now just two years into the life of this administration… people in government are the ones that started. So how do you expect a free and fair election under these people?” Galadima said.

He also referenced the ongoing political conflict in Kano State, where the NNPP and the APC have been at odds over the emirate tussle, suggesting that the federal government is using its power to destabilize the state for political gain ahead of the 2027 elections.

While Galadima has been a consistent critic of various administrations over the years, his recent statements signal a growing political tension and a firm stance from the NNPP ahead of the next election cycle.
