Onyinyechi Basil from Anambra State has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025. The prestigious event took place on Saturday, August 30, at the Convention Center of Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. The evening was hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson.

The competition began with 22 contestants, who were introduced on August 26. The field was progressively narrowed down to a top 10 and then to the final five, which included representatives from Ogun, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, and Bayelsa states. Onyinyechi Basil impressed the judges throughout the competition with her performances in the swimwear, traditional costume, evening gown, and question-and-answer segments.

Damilola Bolarinde of Lagos was named the first runner-up, while Fortune Kurobo from Bayelsa and Irene Ikediashi of Ogun secured the second and third runner-up positions, respectively. In a separate category, Idah Eno from Akwa Ibom was crowned Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.

As the new Miss Universe Nigeria, Basil will go on to represent the country at the 74th Miss Universe pageant, scheduled for November 20 in Bangkok, Thailand. Her title comes with a cash prize, various gifts, brand endorsements, and professional training opportunities.
