Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has voiced his optimism that Nigeria will secure a victory against South Africa in their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match. The encounter, scheduled for Tuesday night at the Toyota Stadium, is a must-win for the Super Eagles to close the gap on Group C leaders Bafana Bafana.
South Africa currently sits at the top of the group standings with 16 points from seven games, while the Super Eagles are further back in third position with 10 points.
Despite South Africa’s formidable home record and the expected massive crowd support, Nwabali is confident in his team’s ability to get the job done. “I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country,” he said. “I don’t see them beating us. I know we respect them, but they are not favourites. They are doing well, even topping the group. I believe it is going to be a tough game tomorrow but we will come out stronger.”
This highly anticipated match comes after the Super Eagles secured a crucial 1-0 victory against Rwanda last Saturday, though they will be without key striker Victor Osimhen for the clash with South Africa due to an injury.
