Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has publicly stated that he would support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for a leadership role in the country over the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

During a recent television interview, Tambuwal clarified that his political decisions are based on principles of leadership, not personal relationships. He emphasized that he maintains cordial relationships with leaders across all party lines, including Wike, despite their political disagreements.

“When it comes to leadership of this country and leadership of the people, tomorrow, not even today, I would rather support Atiku than Nyesom Wike,” Tambuwal said. He stressed that his past political differences with leaders, such as former President Goodluck Jonathan, were rooted in principles and policy direction, not personal grievances.

Tambuwal used a personal analogy to distinguish between friendship and politics, stating that he would give his personal phone to Wike if asked, but his support for national leadership would still go to Atiku.
