Shakira has shared a touching tribute to Uganda’s Triplets Ghetto Kids following an emotional few days spent together in the United States, describing her time with the young dancers as an experience filled with “inexplicable love.”
The Colombian superstar spent quality time with the Kampala-based troupe indoors and on outings alongside her family and friends following their high-profile collaboration. Among the highlights of their stay, Shakira took the young dancers to the beach for the very first time in their lives.
The Ghetto Kids, who rose to international prominence through viral street dance videos showcasing talent from Uganda’s capital, recently shared the stage with Shakira and Nigerian artist Burna Boy. The group performed live during the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey, dancing to the official tournament anthem, “Dai Dai.”
Following the performance and their time together in New York, Shakira admitted that saying goodbye to the group was difficult, praising their capacity for affection and resilience.
“The Ghetto Kids have brought us their contagious joy and love, and have inspired us so much with their talent, to remind us that like them there are many kids who live forgotten, and who possess an enormous potential waiting to be unlocked and are just waiting for the opportunity to offer their best!” Shakira wrote.
“What could be more urgent for our governments, businesspeople and professionals, than investing in children? What has to happen so that kids around the world receive equal opportunities? Thank you to the Ghetto Kids of Uganda for awakening these questions in us and for transforming our lives with your magic.”
Following the conclusion of their World Cup appearance and their time with the pop star, the members of the Triplets Ghetto Kids have safely returned home to Kampala.
