The United States government has unveiled an expedited visa application process for international visitors planning to attend the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup. This initiative is designed to ensure seamless entry for football enthusiasts from across the globe eager to experience the tournament, which the U.S. is co-hosting with Canada and Mexico.

This announcement follows the inaugural meeting of the FIFA World Cup Task Force, held at the White House on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by President Donald Trump and brought together key cabinet members, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and other high-ranking officials.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem outlined the government’s strategic plans for efficiently processing visa applications for eligible football fans. She highlighted the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, also being hosted by the U.S. in June, as a crucial opportunity to refine their processes.

“This summer, by hosting the Club championship, were already in the process of handling travel documents and visa applications,” Secretary Noem explained. “This experience will serve as a valuable precursor to our efforts next year for the World Cup.”

Secretary Noem further confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security is actively collaborating with the State Department, the Attorney Generals office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to streamline visa processing procedures and ensure timely approvals for international fans. She expressed appreciation for the inter-agency cooperation, emphasizing its vital role in making the World Cup accessible to passionate supporters.

Adding to the preparations, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced plans for enhanced transportation options, including an increase in buses and other transit services, specifically to support the city of Miami during the tournament.

President Trump also announced key appointments to the FIFA World Cup Task Force, naming Andrew Giuliani as the Executive Director and Carlos Cordeiro as a Senior Advisor. Vice President JD Vance will serve as the co-chair of the task force.

This proactive measure by the U.S. government underscores its commitment to hosting a successful and welcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, ensuring that international fans can easily travel to and enjoy the world’s biggest football event.
