Music executive Ubi Franklin has offered his perspective on why a collaboration between Afrobeats superstars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy would be a challenge. Speaking on the Afropolitan podcast, Franklin explained that their status as the industry’s “Big 3” positions them more as rivals than as collaborators.

To illustrate his point, the talent manager drew a comparison to the fierce competition between major banks in Nigeria, noting that every industry has its top three players. Franklin, a long-time associate of Davido, believes that the rivalry is largely for entertainment. He stated that he has never heard Davido speak ill of either Wizkid or Burna Boy in private, a sentiment he feels is mutual among the artists.

“It would be difficult for Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy to come together,” Franklin said. “I will speak for Davido; I have never heard him for once say something ill about Wizkid or Burna Boy… But the environment [industry] they are in will make it difficult for them to work together.”

Davido Clarifies “Slap” Incident in Warri
In other news, Davido has set the record straight on a viral video that appeared to show him being slapped during a recent visit to Warri, Delta State. The video circulated online after the singer performed at a wedding and later visited a club.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Davido clarified that it was not a fan who hit him. He stated that the person seen in the video was one of his security guards who mistakenly made contact with his head while creating a path for him to exit the venue.
