Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has publicly assured judges in the FCT that President Bola Tinubu will never fail to keep a promise, citing the new residential project for heads of courts as evidence of this commitment. Wike gave this guarantee on Monday during the official flagging off ceremony for the Design and Construction of Residences for key judicial figures, including the President of the Court of Appeal and the Chief Judge of the FCT.

Wike emphasized that the judges have been assigned buildings with Certificates of Occupancy (COs), which will become their personal property upon retirement. He positioned the FCT administration as an agent fulfilling the President’s promises. “Let me say it again to you, Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not make promises and fail and as his agent, I want to assure you that we will have to provide those houses for you our judges,” Wike stated. He urged the judges not to bother reminding him, telling them to “take it to the bank and you can cash from it.”

The minister provided details on the scope of the project, noting that 10 duplexes are being built for the Court of Appeal and 20 for the FCT High Court. He mandated the contractor to ensure the project is completed and handed over within 12 months. Wike used the opportunity to reinforce his own reputation, noting that he has no history of abandoning projects.

Wike also commended the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), for his support, revealing that the digitalization of the FCT High Court has been included in the 2025 budget, with instructions already given for the immediate commencement of the project. He concluded by referencing President Tinubu’s past actions in Lagos, suggesting that his efforts to improve judicial welfare are a continuation of his political legacy.
