Nigerian-born rapper Greo has returned with his latest single, “Wa Do Ghe,” a track that serves as a bridge between his roots in Benin City and his current reality in London. Translating to “Come See” in Edo, the song is the first official single from his upcoming EP, Benin 2 London.

Following his recent prelude “London Times,” this new release digs deeper into the migrant experience. It isn’t just about moving to a new city; it’s about the mental and physical shift required to survive in two completely different environments.

Set against gritty drums, Greo uses the track to explore identity, survival, and the sharp contrast between home and abroad. He leans heavily into his heritage, anchoring his verses with Edo proverbs that act as warnings from the elders—reminders that “money comes fast and goes fast,” and in the heat of the struggle, “your mother isn’t here for you to cry to.”

The song’s narrative is split between two distinct worlds. The first verse takes listeners back to Benin, where Greo reflects on a youth navigated carefully:

“Benin born and Benin bred… Privileges weaved me through gun fights like I’m the one in Matrix.”

The second verse shifts the lens to London. Far from the tourist traps, Greo describes a life of high-paced ambition and the hustle familiar to anyone trying to make it in a new country:

“Didn’t trade Nairas for tourist sites… From Enfield to Camden, doing runs like cricket batsmen.”

“Wa Do Ghe” sets the stage for the Benin 2 London EP, a project dedicated to exploring the complexities of migration. It offers a raw, honest look at what it means to carry home with you while trying to build a new life in the Diaspora.

About Greo Greo’s journey began in Benin City, where he first gained attention during the blog era with his project Oral Tradition. After taking a hiatus to build a career in the data and tech sectors, he has returned to music with a sound that is noticeably more mature. His current work blends the storytelling traditions of Edo culture with the sharp, introspective lyricism of modern hip-hop.

“Wa Do Ghe” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
