Hundreds of supporters of the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, have flooded the streets of Port Harcourt today, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, demanding his immediate reinstatement.

The demonstrators, clad in black attire, commenced their protest march from Aggrey Road in the Old Port Harcourt Township. Many carried placards bearing messages such as, “Together we stand for Governor Sim Fubara,” “We want back our Governor, we all voted for,” and “Governor Fubara is the pride of Rivers People.”

This latest demonstration marks an escalation in the ongoing political turmoil that has gripped Rivers State since March 18. On that date, President Bola Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in the state, leading to the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.

This pro-Fubara protest is the most recent in a series of both supportive and opposing demonstrations that have rocked Rivers State in the wake of the presidential intervention. The situation remains tense as supporters voice their strong disapproval of the suspension and call for the return of their elected governor.
