Abia State Governor Alex Otti has directed his Senior Special Assistant on Legislative Matters to provide him with documents passed by the previous House of Assembly concerning the open grazing of cows in the state.

Governor Otti stated his position on the matter during a press briefing on Wednesday at the Government House, Umuahia, during his monthly chat with journalists. He emphasized his belief that cows should not be allowed to roam freely and destroy crops on people’s farms.

Lets be sure it was passed. If it was actually passed during the past administration, then we will take it up from there, Governor Otti said. I am an apostle of anti-open grazing. I believe we have gone beyond carrying cows and destroying people’s farms. Even the species of cows that are modern dont need to rigmarole all over the place.

Regarding security, Governor Otti reported that the gunmen responsible for the murder of two Chinese nationals in Abia State last month came from neighboring Ebonyi State. He informed journalists that some suspects have been apprehended, and investigations are ongoing.

Governor Otti also announced that President Bola Tinubu will visit Abia State before May 29th.

In addition, Governor Otti stated that his administration has significantly reduced the state’s debt from N138 billion, inherited from the previous administration, to N66 billion. He attributed this reduction to the implementation of fiscal discipline.
