Tottenham Hotspur is delighted to announce the signing of Portuguese international midfielder João Palhinha on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich. The deal includes an option for the club to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old returns to the Premier League after a single season with Bayern Munich, where he made 25 official appearances and was part of the Bundesliga title-winning squad. Palhinha previously spent two highly successful seasons in England with Fulham, quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s most dominant defensive midfielders. During his time at Craven Cottage, he made 79 appearances, scored eight goals, and topped the Premier League in tackles.

Palhinha’s career has been marked by success, beginning with his youth days at Sporting CP. He was a key figure in Sporting’s 2020/21 league title win, the club’s first in 19 years, and was named in the Primeira Liga Team of the Year. He also helped Sporting secure two League Cups and the Portuguese Super Cup.

On the international stage, Palhinha has earned 34 caps for Portugal since his senior debut in 2021, representing his country at the 2020 and 2024 European Championships, as well as the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He was also a member of the Portuguese squad that won the Nations League in June.

The addition of Palhinha brings significant strength and experience to the Tottenham midfield as the club looks ahead to the upcoming season.
