House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a critical political asset to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Featuring on Channels Television’s current affairs programme Politics Today on Wednesday, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State asserted that every member of the ruling party has benefitted directly or indirectly from Wike’s political contributions and strategic sacrifices.

“There is no APC member today in Nigeria that has not directly or indirectly benefited from the effort of Wike,” Jibrin stated during the broadcast. “Wike has sacrificed so much for APC, for the President. Wike has handed over Rivers State to APC.”

Jibrin highlighted Wike’s role in managing opposition dynamics through the Federal Government’s “government of national unity” framework, noting that his involvement has effectively contained opposition influence in several states. He added that during recent elections in the Federal Capital Territory, the minister persuaded key candidates to step down in favor of APC flagbearers, strengthening the party’s position.

Addressing Wike’s outspoken nature, Jibrin acknowledged that while the former Rivers State governor possesses distinct political style and personal idiosyncrasies, political leaders should focus on managing working relationships with him rather than engaging in public confrontations. He stressed that Wike’s strategic contributions far outweigh any personal differences within the political landscape.
