In a dramatic turnaround for their campaign, Bolivia has secured a spot in the inter-confederation play-offs after a stunning 1-0 victory at home against a much-changed Brazil side in the CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Heading into the match, it was a “make or break” situation for Bolivia, who needed a win to keep their World Cup dreams alive. Their opponents, Brazil, had made nine changes to their squad, and the home side initially struggled to find their footing.

However, Miguelito emerged as the standout player for Bolivia, testing the Brazilian defense and goalkeeper Alisson multiple times. Despite the home side’s dominance, they were unable to score until first-half stoppage time, when a penalty was awarded after Bruno Guimaraes was penalized for a foul on Roberto Fernandez. Miguelito stepped up and confidently fired the ball into the net, giving Bolivia the lead.

With a one-goal advantage, Bolivia’s main focus was to defend and hold on to their lead. Despite Brazil bringing on key players like Raphinha and Joao Pedro in the second half, Bolivia’s defense held firm. The victory, combined with favorable results in other matches, allowed La Verde to secure the play-off spot.

This marks a significant turn in their campaign and a renewed hope of reaching the FIFA World Cup finals for the first time in 32 years.
