Coventry City earned their first points of the Premier League season after securing a hard-fought 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, snapping a six-match losing streak at the stadium.

Nottingham Forest dictated play throughout the first half, registering 14 total shots—the highest first-half tally by any Premier League team this season. James McAtee tested Carl Rushworth in the opening minute, while long-range efforts from Dan Ndoye and Neco Williams forced further saves from the Coventry goalkeeper. Striker Liam Delap came closest to opening the scoring just before the interval, curling his effort inches wide of the post.

Despite Forest’s early momentum, Coventry City broke the deadlock ten minutes into the second half to score their first top-flight goal in a quarter of a century. Goalkeeper Carl Rushworth initiated the attack with a pinpoint long pass out wide to Jay Dasilva, who drove into the penalty area and slotted his finish past Matz Sels.

Oliver Glasner’s Forest side struggled to mount an effective response after falling behind. Substitute Igor Jesus came close to equalizing when he chipped Rushworth following a through ball from Morgan Gibbs-White, but defender Bobby Thomas produced an acrobatic goal-line clearance to preserve Coventry’s lead. Igor Jesus later had a tap-in ruled out by the referee for a foul on Caleb Yirenkyi in the build-up.

The victory gives Frank Lampard’s side a major boost heading into the international break, while Nottingham Forest leave the match with one win from their last 14 home league fixtures.
