FC Barcelona delivered an emphatic statement in their first home match of the season, routing Valencia 6-0 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. The victory extends Barcelona’s unbeaten run against Valencia in LaLiga to 11 matches, dating back to January 2020.

In a match that saw the Blaugrana play at their temporary home while the Camp Nou undergoes renovation, manager Hansi Flick opted for a starting lineup without the injured Lamine Yamal and with stars like Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski on the bench. The team, however, showed no signs of weakness. New signing Marcus Rashford was a constant threat, and former Valencia forward Ferran Torres nearly opened the scoring with a clever chip.

The pressure finally paid off just before the half-hour mark when Fermin Lopez, another one of Barcelona’s standout performers, scored the first goal from a tight angle after a fantastic touch from Torres. Despite Barcelona’s dominance in possession and shots, they went into halftime with only a 1-0 lead.

The second half was a completely different story. The floodgates opened after the introduction of Raphinha. First, the Brazilian latched onto a brilliant pass from Rashford to give the hosts a two-goal cushion. Just three minutes later, Fermin Lopez scored his second with a powerful long-range strike to make it 3-0.

Raphinha then completed his brace, burying a ferocious drive for Barcelona’s fourth goal. The scoring wasn’t over. Substitute Robert Lewandowski, celebrating his 150th appearance for the club, smashed home a fifth goal from a Dani Olmo assist and then added a sixth with a cheeky chip over the goalkeeper to complete his own brace.

The win sees Hansi Flick’s side continue their impressive home league form in 2025, with 10 wins and a draw in 12 matches. Valencia, on the other hand, managed only two shots throughout the entire game, and their manager, Carlos Corberan, will be looking for a strong response from his team in the coming weeks.
